The Senior Sanitarian will oversee and inspect environmental health programs for the Hornell District Office. The incumbent will conduct inspections and sanitary surveys at food service establishments, children's camps, hotels/motels, and other sites; review operation reports, sample results, and compliance schedules; and respond to reports of possible contamination at regulated facilities. The incumbent will also prepare inspection reports and correspondence to operators citing deficiencies, and inform operators of corrective actions. When necessary, incumbents will also prepare and present enforcement actions against facilities found to be non-compliant. The selected candidate will also play a critical role in educating operators, owners, and the public regarding environmental health issues, and provide training and technical assistance to facility owners and operators.

Salary Range:
From $60069 to $76387 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Permanent Transfer Candidates:
Current DOH employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as a Senior Sanitarian, Grade 18. Provisional Promotion Candidates:
Current DOH employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Public Health Sanitarian, Grade 14. Public Candidates for Provisional Opportunity (Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications):
Either 1. a bachelor's degree in the natural sciences AND one year of experience in environmental health protection (defined below). OR 2. a bachelor's degree, with 30 credits in the natural and applied sciences, of which at least 18 credits are in the natural sciences, AND two years of experience in environmental health protection (defined below). Substitution:
a master's degree in the natural or applied sciences may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Natural sciences that are considered appropriate are biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences (geology and hydrology). Applied sciences include science-based courses in environmental technology, sanitation technology, medical technology, public health, infection control, and food science. Experience in environmental health protection is defined as conducting inspections to determine compliance with federal, state, or local environmental laws, regulations, and established public health standards, OR experience in the identification and notification of public health environmental hazards and the development of methods to eliminate or control such hazards and/or the spread of disease and other environmental factors impacting the health of individuals and/or the public, such as in hospitals and long term care facilities.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
